China Okasi On Anderson Cooper's Daytime Show
____________________________________________
China decided to dabble in daytime this past month! GASP!!!
China Okasi was featured as a journalist, web entrepreneur/expert with video experience. She discussed our society's fascination with "Caught On Tape" moments.
WHAT CHINA SAID ABOUT OUR FASCINATION WITH "CAUGHT ON TAPE" MOMENTS:
1. People these days participate in citizen journalism
2. We have a culture of "show and tell," which is enhanced and exhibited by technological tools such as video cam and Internet
3. When you couple the power of the web with the Internet's power to mass-produce and distribute narratives that would otherwise not have been seen, you're really talking about a revolution that has taken place/is taking place in our generation
4. For example, look how vital this technological revolution and citizen journalism was to movements like the Arab Spring
Comments from China after the show:
"I had a great time! I'm used to nighttime commentary, so the brightness of Anderson's daytime studio--I mean, he has the sunlight as part of his set, seriously--was new for me. I'm used to dark studios with fake lighting. I think Anderson's such a great guy. I'd met him a number of times--including at CNN when he sat in my makeup chair, but I may have been too busy studying him from afar as a journalist [laughs]...He seems very bright, very pensive..."
